For the first time in recent memory Stags selected the same starting lineup and substitutes two weeks running. Consistency paid off, as the Green Army ran riot at the Racecourse against Queens with an 81-0 victory.
In front of the largest home crowd of the season, Stags ran in a total of thirteen tries with Wade Schoeman scoring four and singles to Nick Saunders, Wayne Bradley, Joe Hicken, Barnie West, Owain Collard, Jack Adkins, Richard North, Will Gould and Ewan Brown who scored his first senior try. Hicken was successful with eight of his shots at goal.
Stags scrum half Jack Skidmore summed up the game beautifully saying “’twas a truly splendid performance; a gargantuan effort from the pack who carried and cleared with utmost vigor and left the ball on a silver platter for me to distribute to the popinjays in the backline who ran amok in the wide channels!”
Leader of men Coach Leader was obviously very pleased with the performance, saying “I am obviously very pleased with the performance.
“The goal was a third bonus point win in as many weeks, and we had that sown up after about twelve minutes.
“I thought we kept to our structure and patters quite well for the full eighty, but also showcased some full razzle which you can afford when in total control.
“We had some good players who missed out on selection this week, and I know I will have some decisions to make for the next game but that is a great place to be in as we head into a run of games against higher opposition in the lead up to Christmas.
“We will have a week off to freshen up some sore bodies and then look to hit the ground running again against Rushden” concluded Leader.
Stags man of the match was Jack Adkins, kindly sponsored by the Black Bull Brampton, for his barnstorming runs and the fact that he didn’t need to lie down for a rest several times during the match.
Stags next fixture is away against Rushden & Higham on the 2nd December.
