Huntingdon & District RFC

21 - 7

(HT 7-0)

Stewarts & Lloyds RFC

On a fantastic sunny afternoon stags gained their 2nd win of the season 21-7 v S & L. With the weather perfect for running rugby the youthful stags team played up the slope in the 1st half turning round 7-0, Sam Booth scoring, to the good but knowing they had probably left a few out there through if either over running support play or the final pass not going to hand. Sam Booths try came from a good break from their own half which left him with the chance to run at his opposite number which he duly did. Joe Hicken converted.

The 2nd half was eagerly awaited as down the slope, plenty of possession it was hoped Stags may get a BP at least. However as much as they tried again a culmination of mis timed passes out wide and over running made the 2nd half a stop start affair with S & L defending manfully. Eventually Tom Morgan scored after some great footwork, Joe Hicken converts. Again the crowd sensed Stags could kick on but to no avail and it wasn’t until 10 mins to go that Luca Poretti bundled over after good work from the forwards, Joe Hicken converts. The last 10mins was frustrating for the Stags as again the game became a stop start affair and indeed it was S & L who made the final score with their winger making a fine individual run out wide and scores unopposed under the post.
