It is with great regreat that I have to inform you that as of Monday 5th October Huntingdon Stags 1st XV have officially been withdrawn from the RFU league competition. This is not a decision that has been taken lightly, however the truth is that we do not have a enough of a squad of players to fufil our league committments.
There will be 1st XV rugby at Stags this season, we are looking into our remaining playing opportunties as we speak, but as it currently stands we are predicting to play around 10 games this season. We will aim to put on a lunch for any home games and I urge you to attend these as we need to stand together as a club in this difficult time, not to mention we need the income behind the bar! We are also continuing our efforts to secure our long term future at the racecourse.
In brighter news our mini and junior section continues to be a story of real success, not only in the number of youngsters playing rugby but also in the quality of that rugby and again I urge you to pop down to the racecourse on a Sunday and see for yourself.
I apologise for being the bearer of such disappointing news and i look forward to sharing more positive news shortly. Should any of you wish to discuss this further please do not hesitate to contact me.
Kind regards
Paul Baynes
Chairman
